Morning Hype! Angry Angles!
Man, it sucks that Jay Reatard got called up to the great gig in the sky before the rest of us were done with him. Selfish? Yes. Don't care though. His output at the time of his passing was already legendary and it's hard not to wonder where he could've taken it. One direction may have been with his band Angry Angles. Recorded during the Blood Visions era with Alix Brown and Destruction Unit's Ryan Rousseau, the full album only recently saw the light of day thanks to the fine folks at Goner Records. With covers of Devo(Blockhead), The Oblivians(Memphis Creep) and Wire(The 15th) alongside the frenetic fuzzed out punk that Jay does oh so well, Angry Angles is a gift that goes way beyond all the posthumous releases that bog down so many of the "gone too soon" artists catalogs. Thanks Goner, and thank you for being you, Jay.
