New Tunes: Death Valley Girls
Love it when I can't quite place a band. 60's girl group that somehow time traveled and got down with Sabbath before returning home? The little sisters of the Go-Go's who decide to focus on their big sister's debaucherous punk rock early years? Present day biker chicks who are in tight with the nation's mummy community? Perhaps, but in reality Death Valley Girls are all of this and so much more. Their new album, Glow In The Dark, covers a lot of ground and has an uncanny ability to transform your present surroundings into a time you only wished you had previously experienced. By themselves, these songs are great and will, without a doubt, stick in your head but I think this offering is truly meant to be played in the long player format. A full length journey into both the past and the future, with all the conveniences of not leaving the present. And in this day and age, its all about that convenience! Probably to a fault.
