Morning Hype! Tough Age!

Vancouver seems to have a bit of a dirty bubblegum pop(scuzz pop?)revival going on, with bands like Chains Of Love and today's newly discovered Tough Age putting out really good garage rock records that reach beyond the perpetual dreariness of the Northwest and actually provide a much needed ray of sunlight to the scene's Vitamin D deficient music aficionados. With influences ranging from Phil Spector-esque doo-wop to Dick Dale surf rock to fellow Northwesterners The Sonics brand of proto-punk, the band wears it all on their sleeve without coming off sounding like the carbon copy ripoff that a lot of today's "revivalist" bands do. Tough Age's self titled debut is being released by Vancouver mainstay label Mint Records November 12th and you can stream it over at Exclaim right now. Not only worth the click but worth an actual trek down to the local record store to flaunt your immaculate musical knowledge to all the cool kids hanging out. They'll be thankful you did, but they'll never admit it.
