Music Videos. They Still Exist.

A lost art in the age of MTV's "reality", music videos no longer are the premier platform to get your music out there. They are still being made though, as evidenced by two new releases that I've found today digging around the interwebs looking for something to write about. Though I doubt I'll remember exactly where I was, what I was wearing and how cold it was outside the first time I watched these, like I do with the epic high school mosh that was Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit video, it reminded me about what was what like to yearn to see a video a second, third and fourth time, perhaps for the fantasies the music inspired, a topic directly pinpointed in Dinosaur Jr.'s "Pierce the Morning" video, or,  like Ty Segall's "Thank God For Sinners", a video reminding us that art can inspire music just as much as music can inspire art. Both videos are below, along with the video that sparked an entire generation to begin thinking outside the (idiot)box. MTV almost got it right. Almost.
