Hi.

Welcome to brickbackground. Come discover the finest in underground rock and roll. Because contrary to popular belief, good music does still exist.

Morning Hype!

After a couple day away from ye ol' keyboard, I'm back to share some more of my favorite song from this past year. Today we're going to start with Sydney, Australia's Royal Headache. With a vocalist seemingly obsessed with American Soul music fronting a bunch of guys that probably like Black Flag more than Shuggie Otis, their eponymous release brings the best of two genres together. With zero tracks reaching the three minute mark, the pop standard is sternly adhered to, allowing the band to flow through everything from sing along choruses to lazy, Sunday sunshine instrumentals, reminding the listener of that one mixtape they made for that one love interest that one summer oh so long ago. Great stuff, even if the silly little internet doesn't like their lack of table manners in ye ol' watering hole.
